About The Opportunity

Our client are an FCA-regulated provider of innovative financial products in the Probate sector, and are looking for a Head of Marketing.

This is a fantastic role with huge potential, ideal for an experienced and enthusiastic marketing professional to continue their career with an emerging consumer finance start up. You’ll be responsible for delivering first class marketing strategies and campaigns to consumers looking for niche loan products.

We are looking for an energetic marketing professional to lead their B2C marketing activity as the Head of Marketing. The role encompasses managing existing agencies and contractors as well as defining the future marketing strategy, budget, and team structure.

The Head of Marketing will need to develop strong and innovative digital marketing strategies, using SEO, PPC, Social, and other techniques to drive traffic to company web pages and generate interest in company products and services. The role will be responsible for the content strategy, as well as ensuring digital assets are fit for purpose and delivering results – namely lead generation in a nascent market.

We are looking for someone who can grow with the role and the company and is excited by the opportunity to define the marketing function from a relative blank sheet of paper. The ideal candidate will have experience in consumer marketing, ideally including consumer finance product marketing. The company employs a hands-on start-up mentality; the ideal candidate will be both strategic and operational, working closely with the Business Development Director & CEO, and delivery teams daily. You will be the driving force behind their marketing strategy.


  • Ensure agencies deliver against objectives. Review agency digital strategy and inform direction and strategy where required. Together with the agencies, develop and implement SEO & PPC strategies

  • Manage existing team of contractors which spans content, design, communications, branding, B2B activity and Social channel management

  • Define, recommend, and lead the consumer marketing strategy. Define and deliver marketing budget and ROI targets by channel, ensuring digital assets are meeting or exceeding targets, recommend new investments/channels where required

  • Define the optimal organisational structure going forward, including what roles to in-house, the operating model and interfaces with other functions

  • Ensure first class reporting on campaign performance and channel performance to inform marketing investment decisions

  • Review the marketing technology stack for completeness and optimisation, recommend appropriate investments

  • Work with the Board to define the target customer segments and ensure messaging and channel investments achieve positive ROI in each segment

  • Utilise test and learn methodology, remaining agile as the business direction matures and products evolve; continually improve and develop marketing tactics

  • Manage and maintain the company website and other owned media

  • Build awareness of competitor activity to help differentiate marketing communications and campaigns

About You

  • Degree-qualified, B2C marketing professional with recent experience of consumer FS products

  • A digital first mindset, comfortable with use of social channels and using MI to drive decisions

  • SEO, PPC, Google AdWords, Facebook, Instagram experience required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail

  • Good influencing and leadership skills, able to deal with strong personalities

  • Self-motivated - you’ve cut your teeth in changeable environments, and in roles where you’ve worn a number of different hats under the banner of ‘Marketing’ which you have loved!
