About The Opportunity

As a PMO Manager, you will be focussed on product, process and system development and adherence, providing long-term delivery and project effectiveness.

Providing project assurance to the Project Portfolio Director and wider IT Leadership team for the portfolio of projects, which will enable it to meet its operational and strategic objectives. This role will also need to ensure current and future projects are delivered in line with best practice project management techniques based on Agile frameworks appropriate to the type and scale of projects and delivering the identified business benefit.

The Department is undergoing change of new processes/methodologies therefore a fantastic opportunity shape the change and future of the function.


•Support the Project Portfolio Director (PPD) in implementing and maintaining a Release Cycles (based on PI planning)

•Working with Senior IT Development mangers on aligning release cycles and planning contents of future releases. In some cases being the Scrum Master

•Manage the framework in which the Project Portfolio Office operates across all parts of project/programme management including Benefits management, Risk and Issue management, Scheduling and planning, governance, financial controls

•Provide leadership of the Project Portfolio Office methodologies to other departments ensuring effective and efficient controls and reporting are in place.

•Provide input on an ongoing basis to change management processes and procedures

•Assist the PPD drafting documentation and reports, and preparing procedure and guidance documentation in conjunction with Project Managers and Project Management Offices;

•Identify and resolve operational problems, escalating more complex and difficult issues upwards to PPD

•Provide administrative support for meetings where PMO knowledge is required. This includes setting up and administrating programme meetings, including the recording of meeting action logs and decision logs.

•Able to Manage Medium/Large Adhoc Projects

•Manage and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders

•Monitor and analyse financial reports relating to programme resourcing & Costs

About you

•Proven track record of managing a programme or project office for medium sized programmes

•Ability to create new processes and optimise existing process

•Ability to adapt to new circumstance and use initiative to problem solve

•Ability to manage myriad of varying tasks/activities

•Strong planning skills and ability to prioritise work

•A strong communicator, able to communicate messages clearly to a range of audiences at all levels – both verbally and in writing

•The ability to build productive working relationships quickly and to engender confidence with the programmes and projects

•Solid understanding of project methodologies, with experience of delivering projects using a variety of different techniques - Prince 2/PMP Certified essential

•Scrum/Agile Certifications preferred/essential

•Proficiency in Microsoft products including Teams, Excel/PowerPoint essential.

•Excellent skills in Confluence and JIRA essential

•Strong attention to detail

•Experience in Payments/Banking Sector is strongly desirable

•Experience of working in fast-paced environments on large Portfolios.
