Our client is a leading global payments company founded in 2002 to support merchants finding it difficult to navigate the payment landscape. Their passionate team of payments experts lead the charge of payment innovation and have created a range of market-leading products, including; global omnichannel card payment solutions, an in-house buy now pay later solution, a rich suite of global alternate payment methods (APMs), an eWallet with issuing of prepaid cards and more. The company employs 300 staff across 17 global offices, offering clients more than 300 ways to pay in over 150 processing currencies. To support their rapid growth, they are looking for a new VP of Partnerships to join their team in the London Office.
About the Opportunity
The VP of Partnerships will be responsible for creating the Partnership Strategy that will include the effective management of the companies high profile and diverse portfolio of partners, as well as driving a high growth approach to building new partnerships. You will directly fuel the growth engine by breaking into new areas and winning strategic new Partners. Ultimately, you will be responsible for identifying new ways to promote company products and service offering based on the set targets. To be successful in this position, you will be a hands-on, strategic doer, who has a proven commercial ethos and passion towards partnerships. You will apply your extensive understanding of the payments ecosystem to drive a number of solutions into new verticals.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the Implementation of the new business partner sales, relationships, retention strategies and formulate the appropriate tactical and operational plans to achieve the stated goals and targets
Lead the end-to-end execution of the companies payment partnership strategies, including identifying partners and partnership opportunities, developing strategic relationships in collaboration with company leadership, structuring and negotiating on commercial agreements, press releases, program launches, and driving early-stage go-to market efforts to accelerate growth through partnerships and broader ecosystem
Formulate the appropriate tactical and operational plans to achieve the stated goals and targets. Cascade plans with proper resourcing, performance management and optimization of processes to realize the delivery of strategic goals
Lead on the Implementation of the new partner sales, relationships, retention strategies and formulate the appropriate tactical and operational plans to achieve the stated goals and targets.
Monitor all onboarding processes until ‘go live’ with relevant internal departments
Explore, scope, and evaluate new partnership opportunities in the payments ecosystem by continuously developing relationships with established players in the industry.
Identify incremental opportunities that map directly to each partner’s needs and/or pain points and initiate & drive partnership growth conversations with the client
Develop and execute customized account strategy, objectives and plans to increase revenue and market share for select strategic partner accounts.
About The Desired Candidate
Extensive sales experience, preferably in a high-growth, fast-paced payment service provider
Proven ability executing first of kind partnerships and strategies for multi-sided platforms with an understanding of how to balance incentives.
Passionate about partnerships and building positive and effective relationships
Creative problem solver and innovator – to build new business models and adapt new kinds of partnership structures.
Experience leading complex multi-year strategies and execution roadmaps, with proven experience both internally (influencing stakeholders) and externally (negotiating complex deals with partners)
Ability to work independently within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to stakeholders and to juggle multiple initiatives at once
High levels of autonomy and responsibility along with presence and gravitas
Proven record of implementing strategic initiatives, policies, and operational decisions
Strategic thinking and thought leadership
Exceptionally strong communication skills, in both verbal and written form, and ability to influence stakeholders across a wide variety of functions
Teamwork, interpersonal & relationship-building skills, and ability to lead by influence and example
