This role will lead our client’s International Partnerships business, one of their two main practices outside the US market. The International Partnerships practice helps companies create payment and lending industry alliances that deliver long-lasting value. Our Client has pioneered the partnerships space more than four decades and since then they have facilitated hundreds of alliances, advising and representing all sides of transactions in the process. They work across the partnership lifecycle, helping clients to plan, structure, select, negotiate, manage, and improve successful partnership programmes. In recent years they have delivered to clients in the UK, Europe, and Middle East

Responsibilities

The International Partnerships Director role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced cards and payments professional to: 
  • Lead the existing International Partnerships practice to identify, win, and deliver a range of interesting, varied, and challenging engagements for top-tier clients. 
  • Develop the network, relationships, and profile of the our client, keeping their finger on the pulse of the cards and payments market to ensure they continue to collect the critical market intelligence that leads to new business opportunities. 
  • Broaden the range of engagement that the business delivers to widen the opportunity to win future business from a varied range of clients. 

The Role includes: 
  • End to end ownership of client relationships. 
  • Ownership of practice revenue goals. 
  • Management and delivery of consulting assignments for clients, often as part of small project teams, but sometimes as the primary delivery consultant. 
  • Development of high quality, strategically focused deliverables that deliver on client needs, including senior support to client engagements and input towards their deliverables. 
  • Develop and maintain a network of key prospects and existing clients. 
  • Supporting the practice business development efforts through targeted marketing campaigns, industry relationship building, warm- and cold-calling efforts, proposal and client presentation development. 
  • Leading meetings with and presentations to clients and external industry players to develop new business, build relationships, provide exposure  and keep up with industry trends. 
  • Lead efforts to increase European and International opportunities. 
  • Lead, create and implement the practice's strategy to meet evolving requirements and industry needs. 
  • Managing and mentoring the International Partnerships Team. 
  • Liaise with internal US Managing Directors to identify and develop global partnership opportunities

About The Desired Candidate

  • Extensive experience in the card issuing industry. 
  • Regarded by others in the industry as a subject matter expert in the payments industry, with substantial knowledge of credit cards or similar consumer lending products. 
  • Experience in the Co-Brand/Affinity/Partnerships cards/BNPL/Loyalty markets.
  • A strong general understanding of the Cards and Payments industry as a whole. 
  • A strong network of relationships around the Cards and Payments industry. 
  • Experience in developing new business opportunities . 
  • Creativity and flexibility in developing and delivering solutions that add value to clients. 
  • The ability to think strategically and deliver tactically. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Experience in negotiating partnerships, contracts, and/or other relevant transactions.
  • Experience/knowledge of the retail sector preferred but not required. 
  • A collaborative, team-oriented work style with a hands-on approach. 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills. 
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize, delivering or managing several projects at a time.
  • Experience in working with senior-level clients and stakeholders. 
  • A strong work ethic, energy, and enthusiasm. 
  • Proven ability to get involved in the day-to-day delivery when required.

Salary

Substantial Basic Salary, plus Bonus, Commissions and Equity.
