About The Opportunity

Our client is currently recruiting for a Sales Director to join their team.  The preference is for the role to be Ireland based but consideration will be give to a UK base. The role is a can be worked as hybrid model with either the Dublin or Kerry offices. The role will  also involve regular international travel. 

As Sales Director, you will lead Their direct-to-merchant sales strategy, responsible for expanding their footprint across new verticals while deepening relationships with existing customers. This role is pivotal in accelerating growth and positioning the company as a leading payments partner across diverse merchant segments.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities: 

Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
  • Define and execute the sales strategy for expanding into new merchant verticals (e.g. retail, airline, hospitality etc.).
  • Identify and prioritise high-potential segments, shaping product-market fit and sales messaging accordingly.
  • Develop vertical-specific playbooks to scale repeatable success.
 Direct Sales Leadership
  • Own, manage and drive the end-to-end sales process - from lead generation through to deal closure.
  • Foster a culture of consultative selling that puts customer needs at the heart of every engagement.
 Revenue & Pipeline Accountability
  • Set and exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
  • Forecast and report on pipeline health, deal velocity, and conversion metrics.
  • Ensure rigorous sales process discipline and data accuracy.
 Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Operations teams to align sales efforts with overall company objectives.
  • Work closely with the Customer Success and Implementation teams to ensure smooth onboarding and long-term merchant retention.
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally, advocating for enhancements that support merchant growth.
 Customer & Market Intelligence
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key merchants and enterprise accounts.
  • Monitor competitor movements, pricing strategies, and industry trends to keep the business ahead of the curve.
  • Represent the business at payments industry events and merchant-facing conferences.

About The Desired Candidate

Experience:
  • Proven track record in a senior B2B sales leadership role within the payments, fintech, or financial services sector.
  • Deep understanding of direct-to-merchant sales dynamics in verticals with complex operational requirements (e.g. retail, airline, hospitality etc.).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to scale and coach high-performing sales teams.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and a customer-first mindset.
  • comfortable operating in a scale-up or fast-growth environment.
  • Deep understanding of merchant payment needs across Acquiring, POS, eCommerce and related Value-Added Services (VAS).
  • Experience with payment platforms or transaction processing systems is highly desirable

Salary

Salary up to £100,000 plus 40% Bonus

Additional Information

The preference is for the role to be Ireland based but consideration will be give to a UK base. 
This role will be performed on a Hybrid model, with regular travel.
