About the Opportunity

The UK branch Compliance Officer & MLRO will be accountable for managing our clients compliance with UK regulatory requirements and financial crime risks. As the successful role holder you will provide oversight for the UK operations on anti-money laundering systems and will act as the focal point for regulatory inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Managing compliance with UK regulatory requirements and holding the MLRO role in the UK.

  • Collaborate with the VP Compliance & MLRO for the development and implementation of the risk-based compliance management programme.

  • Manage the company licence with the PRA, ensuring all regulatory returns and responses to regulatory requests are accurate, complete and submitted on time.

  • Participate in the review and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures, including making sure the AML manual is kept up to date.

  • Monitoring UK legislative and regulatory developments that impact the business and notifying all stakeholders of relevant regulatory changes, conducting gap analysis and drafting and reviewing policies and procedures.

  • Ensure local compliance with the Group’s Policies and Procedures.

  • Monitoring AML/CFT risks relating to UK operations, submitting STR/SARs on suspicious transactions and replying to requests for information from the authorities, in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with the VP Compliance & MLRO for the development and implementation of the AML program.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to assist in developing appropriate control measures to manage KYC, AML and the sanctions program.

  • Provide training, guidance and communication of AML risks, developments and trends to colleagues and management.

  • Identify and assess compliance and AML risks associated with the UK current and proposed future business activities, including new products and new business relationships.

  • Responsible for liaising with external regulators on compliance related matters and ensuring all information requested is submitted promptly and accurately to them.

  • Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses, and creating sound internal controls to monitor adherence to same.

  • Reporting to the VP Compliance & MLRO and Branch Manager periodically on the implementation of the Compliance program for the UK operations.

About the Desired Candidate

  • At least five years’ professional experience working in AML and risk related roles at a bank, payment services provider, financial institution, bank, fin-tech company, financial regulatory agency, or professional services firm serving financial institution clients.

  • Knowledge of UK regulatory requirements and understanding of payments, acquiring, gateway, e-money and banking products and services.

  • Experience of delivering or supporting the delivery of reporting to UK or European regulators and/ or other regulatory authority requirements.

  • Experience with STR/SAR reporting in the UK.

  • Experience of managing an AML compliance program.

  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to provide useful and efficient counsel.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation skills.
